UPDATES

Welcome to TRR'18

18 Aug 2018

  • Course Change: After careful review, Textile will be running the "Short Course" this year, with an eye on making this a permanent feature. The new course for this year will be approximately 4500m (2.8 miles) versus 5800m (3.6 miles) in years past. The Finish Line will remain where it has been; the Start Line is being moved downriver to below the "Mother" rock. Stay tuned for updated Maps within the next two weeks. The main motivation for this change is the feedback that told us a shorter course would be more aligned with the HOCR distance and would benefit Juniors and Masters rowers. Another benefit is that we have a safer course by taking the "Mother" rock out of play.
  • Price Increases: Budget-conscious teams will notice that we have raised entry fees by a small amount this year - after over 5 years without an increase. We are still well below the entry fees at many other regattas, but just the same we are expanding our opportunities for complimentary entries to help alleviate the burden:
    • Teams can bring a launch for light use as a marshal boat and get comped for the entry fee of one 8+.
    • Teams can supply a human or two to support the regatta-day effort as a marshal, launch driver, dock worker, etc. For each 8 hours of volunteerism, we will comp an 8+. We have a variety of skill requirements, so some regatta experience is preferred.
    • These offers for ways to reduce your regatta bill are purely first-come-first-served and subject to end without notice. Write to info@textileriverregatta and state your preferred donation to the cause. Please provide your name, age, contact info and availability in that email.
  • Event List: The order of events is the same as last year (shown below in the next section), but we may make some adjustments to avoid overcrowding at the Start area. Course times are expected to drop by about 20% with the shorter course, and the reasonable turnaround time for hot-seating should go from 90 minutes down to about 75. As the registrations start to come in we will show nominal Start Times on the schedule below, and we will note any change in the order of events here in this space.
  • Registration: Will be opening soon at Regatta Central.

  • Thanks for playing at the 38th Annual Textile River Regatta. What a great day, only made possible by the sportsmanship and hard work of all the crews, families and volunteers on many levels. We're very grateful for your support and wish you the best success in this racing season.
  • RACE RESULTS ARE POSTED AT HERENOW. Some Pictures: Please add yours to this Photo Archive of TRR17.

  • LOST and FOUND

    • LOST: Two pairs of white Nike shoes
    • FOUND: Key ring with lots of keys, including two car keys
    • LOST: 'LuLu Lemon' bag that is mostly red in color. It sits on a squarish bottom and has handles.

  1. Coaches: Please download and sign the Coach's Certification Form to help expedite check-in. Wilma thanks you in advance.
  2. Competitors or their coaches must check-in at the Bellegarde Boathouse at the main desk.
    • Check-in times are as follows: Saturday, Sep 29th 4pm to 6pm and Sunday, Sep 30th 6am to 3pm
    • Allow ample time to get through check-in and make your event. We have the fastest check-in team around, but you might wait 15 minutes during peak times. We highly encourage coaches to come with a well-prepared set of documentation to complete the check-in for their entire fleet in one pass.

  1. Bring a Launch, get a Comped Entry

We're looking for 5 launches to be on the water during the regatta. We'll waive the entry fee for an 8+ for each launch you can bring. Most launches will be in stationary marshal positions throughout the day (lightly used), and you can certainly use them during practice hours on Saturday. First-come-first-served. Send an email to info@textileriverregatta.org to get the details.
